Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir Micro Cuvée McLean Creek Vineyards 2018

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMicro Cuvée Pinot Noir is one of the best pinots made in BC, year in and year out. Since we need to avoid the Burgundy descriptor, I would characterize Micro Cuvee as a Grand Cru BC pinot given its incredible mouthfeel and lengthy, silky finish. It’s a best barrel selection from the home McLean Creek Road vineyard, and in 2018 the selection of two clones: a block of Pommard Clone 91, and a quarter of clone 115. It was aged eleven months in two new 500L French oak puncheons, along with four one-year-old puncheons, before it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. The style is fragrant and attractive but substantive on the palate with dark raspberry, slippery tannins, and a dusty saline mineral finish. It will repay cellaring or current drinking with creamy, rich mushroom, duck, pork, or turkey dishes. Good value too.Tasted: 31 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
