Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Guicciarda 2018

Tuscany, ItalyBaron Francesco Ricasoli is the 32nd generation family member to live on these Tuscan lands, and caretake the ancient Brolio castle. Francesco is carrying on the dream and on with the vision that his ancestor first began 875 years ago. Previously, Rocca Guicciarda was one of Ricasoli's most important estates. Today, interestingly, this modern-styled wine it is the name of this Chianti Classico Riserva, drawn from various parts of the estate. Predominantly sangiovese, with five percent each of merlot and canaiolo, this was fermented in stainless, aged 18 months in large tonneaux and cask, before six months in bottle. The added grapes lend a dark fleshiness to this polished wine, with wild plum woven through black cherry, worked leather, autumnal forest, cinnamon bark spicing. Acidity is lofted via soils and altitude, while tannins are lightly furry, hugging this to a spiced finish. One to enjoy now with richer autumn stews / braises.Tasted: 20 August 2022Tasted by: Prices:
