Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Guicciarda 2015

Tuscany, ItalyPreviously, Rocca Guicciarda was one of Ricasoli's most important estates. Today, interestingly, this modern-styled wine it is the name of the estate's Chianti Classico Riserva, here showing all the promise and beauty of the winning 2015 vintage. Predominantly sangiovese, with five percent each of merlot and cabernet sauvignon, this was fermented in stainless, aged 11 months in wood tonneau, before six months in bottle. Red fruits lead the dense, fleshy palate, with dried cherry, worn leather, cinnamon bark spicing to a hard pressed finish. There's a definite earthy, gritty rusticity to this wine, keeping it edgy, and best friends with lamb shank.Tasted: 23 February 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
