Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico Riserva Rocca Guicciarda 2012
Tuscany, ItalyPreviously, Rocca Guicciarda was one of Ricasoli's most important estates. Today, it is the name of the estate's Chianti Classico Riserva. Predominantly sangiovese, with merlot and cabernet sauvignon rounding out the blend, this sees fifteen months in barrique and tonneaux, the wood aging very evident in this strident riserva. Worn leather, old paper and dried cherry lead this medium bodied red, one roughed up by those rustically hewn wood tannins and ending with bitter, drying black cherry and blackest espresso.
