Yalumba Sanctum Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaMenzies Estate Vineyard lies in the heart of Coonawarra, on the famous red terra rossa soil over limestone. Yalumba has been making cab sauv off this slender slip of a site for 30+ years. A part of these destemmed grapes spent 10 days on skins over ferment, and the whole rested 4 months in French and Hungarian Hogsheads, and French Barriques. Ripe and plush upon entry, with red currants, raspberry, and bitter cherry, all imbued with the ferrous grip of the soils. Tannins are grippy, and acidity is quite bright at this state, sharpening the medium bodied (13%) red. Its grippy leanness is best taken alongside roasted beef and/or root veg at this time.Tasted: 15 March 2022Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
