Volcanic Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMost of this cabernet sauvignon in 2015 came out of the stony, dusty, mineral-lined soils of the Similkameen Valley, with additions from the thin rocky soils in Oliver. In a warm, dry growing season, it spent 12 months in 50% new French oak. There is lots to taste, maybe too much at 14.9% alcohol. The nose is an eruption of cedar, toasted oak, and herby cassis. The palate matches with earthy, dusty, blackberry and rich, dry tannins that cover the finish in a blanket of pepper and leather. This one will be better with fatty dishes to knock down some of the wood.Tasted: 14 March 2022Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
