Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThe Gamay comes off 3 vineyards on the Twenty Mile Bench, each picked and fermented separately in a mix of open top and concrete fermenters. After 3.5 weeks on skins, this was pressed into neutral oak barrique and puncheon for 10 months' aging, prior to blending and a stint in tank prior to bottling. This lighter red is quite earthy, with sapid branch, plum, tight raspberry, wet wood and white pepper spicing. Acidity is cranberry tart, and tannins are long and fine.
