Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWeighing in at a perfect 13.8 degrees alcohol, this merlot confirms that if merlot is going to make a comeback in North America, it will likely be led by British Columbia producers. Bright, spicy, fruit-forward, vibrant, and enveloped in perfectly ripened tannins that are a pleasure to sip. It is not overly complex, but the balance is spot on, and the black cherry, sagebrush, and well-managed 30 percent new French oak bodes well for this wine down the road, not that it isn't already drinkable.
