Hester Creek Joe's Block 2019

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaJoes' block is an Okanagan original with roots from Italy. Block 13 is home to Italian merlot vines planted in 1968 by pioneer Joe Busnardo. Small berries contribute to its intense flavours. It is all handpicked, and the grapes were left whole for a gentle extraction with fewer solids. The fruit spends 15 days in Italian Ganimede fermenters, followed by French oak barrels for 18 months. The attack is dry and earthy with strong peppery undercurrents and spicy black raspberry. Only four barrels were made, about 100 cases. The winery says you can pair it with salmon burgers with caramelized red onion and bacon jam. Sounds good to me, although I was thinking Spaghetti Bolognese.Tasted: 18 September 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
