Penfolds Shiraz Bin 28 2019

South Australia, AustraliaThe first Kalimna Bin 28 was released in 1959 and was sourced and named after the Barossa Valley Kalimna Vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945. Over time, Bin 28 has become a multi-region, multi-vineyard blend, albeit with a generous amount of Barossa Valley. Kalimna has come off the label to be used more powerfully, perhaps for rarer red wine. The latest Bin 28 emerges from a low-yield year bringing deep colour and rich tannins. Fresh wild blackberry leads a parade of savoury black olive, ash, toasted pastry. It has a lifted frame and super-ripe aromas that run through a rich and glossy wine that will have wide appeal among those who like their shiraz with power. This needs time to develop in the bottle over the next five to ten years.Tasted: 09 September 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
