M. Chapoutier Les Vignes de Bila-Haut Rouge 2019
Côtes du Roussillon Villages, Roussillon, Sud de France, FranceAnother rinse and repeat from Chapoutier, who has instilled the mentality to his entire team that every wine should be made to show its absolute best, no matter the price. Bila Haut is a billboard for the Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages from its floral, savoury, black fruit aromas to its juicy, plummy, wild, smoky, peppery fruit. It is a simply delicious, biodynamically farmed red selling at a bargain price: back up the truck. The AOC is Côtes-du-Roussillon Villages, and the cépage is syrah, grenache, and carignan grown in the Vallée de l'Agly. The fruit is hand-harvested, destemmed, and macerated for two to four weeks before ageing nine months in a 70/30 mix of stainless steel vats and mainly new demi-muids, with batônnage.Tasted: 27 August 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $18.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
