Querceto Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2018

Tuscany, ItalyVernaccia di San Gimignano was the first Italian wine to be awarded Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in 1966. It was elevated to DOCG in 1993. This estate was taken over by the current family at the beginning of the 20th century. Carlo François bought the picturesque property and transformed it from a country residence to an agricultural firm, and today the winery owns around 200 hectares of land, of which 60 are vineyards, 6 are olive groves, and the rest are chestnut groves and oak woods. This is 85% vernaccia, along with other local white grapes sourced from the hillsides of San Gimignano, and aged in stainless. Heady and honeyed on the nose, with ample white mushroom earthiness, downy lees, musk melon on an expansive palate, finishing with lemon and tangerine rind. Partner this expansive white with richer white fish or chicken, or creamy white / green risotto.Tasted: 16 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
