Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAgain, it’s the freshness that draws you to this wine. Look for a lemon peel nose with mineral, green melon, lime pith, and wet stone before a clean, leesy, saline finish. Again, BC seafood is the match and just about any will do. Well done and another demonstration that sauvignon blanc can become something more interesting in British Columbia. The technical data includes SB clones 242 and 530, planted densely to 8000 vines per hectare. These are whole cluster pressed, settled overnight, and transferred to 8% stainless steel tanks, 7% 500L French oak, and 85% 4500L foudres for a wild ferment. The wine spends five months on lees before blending and bottling in the same vessels at the same ratio. Blue Mountain Estate Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom 13-14 year old vines, and SB clones 242 and 530 off their estate high density vineyard, this was whole cluster pressed, settled overnight, and then into a mix of 8% stainless, 7% 500L French oak, and 85% 4500L fourdre for native ferment. The wines remained in the vessels on lees for 5 months prior to blending and bottling. Bright and focused, with lemon peel, pith, and a streak of electricity on the snappy palate, carrying green apple, crunchy pear, and a slick of lees along to the saline finish. Blue Mountain Estate Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTrue to form, this is a restrained, elegant expression of sauvignon blanc from Blue Mountain. It's precise and focused with lemon, green apple, and chalk, deftly balanced by flinty lees and oak after aging in foudre, neutral barriques, and stainless steel for six months. The palate is steely and laser-sharp, with more than enough fruit weight to balance the racy acidity. It's a natural pairing with shellfish, if you're opening a bottle upon release, or give this a few years in the cellar to truly shine.
