Seven Directions Tractor and Vines Vineyard Pinot Noir Rosé 2020
West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTractor & Vines Rosé is from Summerland pinot noir clone 667, off a 1.1 acre site at lake level, oriented east-west. The 12 year old vines grow in silty clay loam and fluvioglacial deposits rich in organic matter. Winemaker Daniel Bontorin says, “a great growing season combined with excellent temperatures, no disease pressure, a lighter crop” gave him lower alcohol and 4.2 tons of amazing fruit, picked the latest date ever. The grapes were crushed, cold-soaked for 2 hours, gently pressed, and fermented in 75/25 stainless steel tanks and neutral French oak. The result is Provence, from its barely pink colour to its subtle strawberry and grapefruit, flecked with a hint of tangerine. It doesn’t get much better than this. Seven Directions is working hard on its new home in Cawston, where they have just under four acres of vines in the ground, including garnacha tinta, grenache clone 52, cabernet franc clone 214, and pinot noir clone 667. The property is farmed organically, and the winery is well underway. It should be ready for the 2021 harvest.Tasted: 05 May 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $26.00 | 750ml | select private retailers |
