Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Pinot Blanc Middle Bench Vineyard 2020
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMiddle Bench Vineyard is located at Keremeos, in the Similkameen Valley. It is a spectacular stony, south sloping vineyard farmed organically to reveal an authentic sense of place. The nose is an uplifting affair of tropical fruits, including nectarines, limes, and melon. Ripe yet crunchy, you can savour the pear, peach and nectarine that feel as if they were squeezed into the finished wine. Dusty, stony mineral-stained flavours mark the finish. Delicious and ready for most any west coast seafood dish or a creamy piece of cheese.Tasted: 21 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Pinot Blanc Middle Bench Vineyard 2020
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaKeremeos' Middle Bench Vineyard, in Similkameen, yields this fruit-forward pinot blanc. This was whole cluster pressed and cool fermented in stainless, where it rested until the following March on lees. Crunchy Asian pear, green apple, gooseberry, grapefruit, green hedge, and underripe pear rule the snappy palate, with brisk, frisky acidity and seasoned with pithy citrus fruit through the lingering finish. Reminiscent of sauvignon blanc this year.Tasted: 26 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Pinot Blanc Middle Bench Vineyard 2020
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis pinot blanc is a winner year in and year out, and 2020 is no different. From Middle Bench Vineyard in Keremeos, this vintage shows a notch more ripeness, fruit intensity, and aromatics than I recall from recent vintages, with nectarine and a slight tropicality. But it's still restrained and lively with green apple and citrus notes that are classic to the variety. Medium-bodied and textural, this stands out for its purity of fruit, with remarkable freshness (and just 12.4% abv) as well as a clean, saline finish. Recommended and a steal at this price.Tasted: 27 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
