Castello di Fonterutoli Chianti Classico 2018

Tuscany, ItalyWhat appears straightforward comes from 120 different winery owned parcels across varying soils, encountering equally changeable mesoclimates at altitudes from 220 to 570 metres. The flagship Fonterutoli red is a 90/5/5/ mix of sangiovese, malvasia nera, and colorino, served up at a very approachable 13.5 percent alcohol. It spends a year in French oak before going to bottle. This is a wine that exudes elegance and class but brings a full bodied midpalate to please the crowds. The fruit is dark and spicy, with black cherries and black raspberries in full view. It finishes with a touch of tannin with a light and stony mineral wash. Made for the cellar or food Tuscan style, that is, fresh, simply prepared dishes with few ingredients.
