Stag's Hollow Syrah 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom the sandy soils of Amalia Vineyard on the Osoyoos West Bench, the latest Stag's Hollow Syrah has changed its style by going down the co-fermentation path, mixing the syrah batches with different levels of viognier. The nose is brighter and clearly more floral, and the palate is juicier with spicy, meaty, ripe blueberry, with a spicy ending. It feels more drinkable, but its youthful edges suggest it will improve with two to three years in the bottle. The ferments were punched down 3 times daily by hand. After 14 days of skin contact, the individual lots were pressed to a mix of French oak barriques, hogsheads, and puncheons (14% new). Post malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged 15 more months on fine lees before being racked, blended, and bottled, unfined and unfiltered.Tasted: 18 February 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
