Quartz Reef Bendigo Estate Pinot Noir 2017

Central Otago, South Island, New ZealandFrom their certified organic and biodynamic Bendigo Estate, these 677 clone pinot noir vines were rooted in 1998 into a north-facing slope of Waenga fine sandy loam and Letts steep land, between 217 – 264m. It was native fermented with 23 days on skins before draining directly into French oak barriques (50% new) for 15 months of ageing. It was bottled without fining or filtration. Dark and brooding, shaped by well-absorbed toasted wood, fresh and dried black cherry, sultry dark plum, forest bark, and gentle smoke on a plush palate. Though the aforementioned tannins sink into the plump, savoury fruit, the wood spicing still stands above, thankfully met by a swell of juicy acidity.Tasted: 10 February 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
