Moon Curser Petit Verdot 2018

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPetit verdot is typically used sparingly in a blend because it's a lot of everything. But in the right hands it produces really interesting single variety wines, and that's the case here. It's not shy on dark fruits, but it's elevated by graphite, liquorice, and floral aromatics. The dusty oak is also quite evident, even at just 25% new. But, if anything, petit verdot is about structure and that's true here, too. It's medium-full bodied, linear in texture, with rather hard tannins and some tartness to the finish. And 15% abv just to prove that, yes, this is a powerhouse. All in all, a fun, worthwhile discovery.Tasted: 14 December 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
