Phantom Creek Estates Phantom Creek Vineyard Co-Fermented Malbec Petit Verdot 2017

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is a giant of a wine, from its inky black colour to its firm, long, dry finish. The blend is an unusual 80/20 mix of malbec and petit verdot. The nose is aromatic with spicy, savoury back pepper, with some hints of red fruit. The palate is similar with a fiery, peppery entry, impressive juicy mid-palate textures, and freshness, before the tannin and oak kicks in to dry out the finish. It is early days for this wine, but it is unique and a good showcase for the versatility of the south Okanagan, and what could be an exciting future as we play more with so many different red varieties. Best put away for three to five years for now.Tasted: 23 November 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
