Tenuta di Nozzole La Forra Chianti Classico Riserva 2015

Greve, Florence, Tuscany, ItalyFrom the Folonari brothers' Nozzole estate, in the La Farra district of northern Greve in Chianti commune, this sangiovese (tipped with 5% cabernet sauvignon) grows at 300-330m and on galestro and albarese soils. After a stainless ferment over 3 weeks, this moved into French wood for 18 months, followed by an additional 6 months' bottle age. This is marked both by the vintage (warm) and wood, pouring a deeper, richer red, with a slightly brownish hue, ample ferrous notes, worn leather, and bigger flake salts amidst the layers. There's an underlying freshness that brightens the fleshy fruit, aided, no doubt, by the schistous limestone soils. Drink now with roast pork or root veg.Tasted: 10 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
