Culmina Family Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMerlot may be the red grape most commonly associated with the Golden Mile Bench, but this reminds us that we shouldn't overlook cabernet sauvignon. From vines planted in 2009 on Arise Bench, this fruit is oozing with ripeness, in combination with a savoury edge of dried herbs and cedar, that manages to hold up to the chocolate and toast of aging in 50% new French barriques. Medium-full bodied, this is fully extracted and densely packed with tannins but they're still plush and smooth thanks to extended time on skins post-fermentation. It makes this approachable now, though you'll want a hearty protein, but will be even better in 5 years.Tasted: 01 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:
