Farmhouse California Red Wine 2018

California, United StatesThe reasonably priced Farmhouse Red first came to my attention because family-owned California producer Cline Family Cellars made it. Farmhouse is named for the old schoolhouse located at the 140-acre Green String Farm in Petaluma and pictured on the label — now used as a library/study for those studying the Green String method of sustainable farming. The blend is a 59/15/26 mix of zinfandel, syrah, along with bits of carignan, mourvedre and petite sirah offering juicy, grapey zin with a milk chocolate underlay and plenty of super-ripe red fruit. If you like your reds big, soft, and on the sweet side, this is it. The Green String farming method uses compost, compost tea, crushed volcanic rock and oyster shell mineral supplements. Half the crops are grown for human consumption and the other half for nature by using rotating cover crops that enrich the soil.Tasted: 10 June 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
