Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Secrest Mountain Vineyard in Oliver, this was whole bunched pressed, fermented with native yeasts, and then aged in concrete eggs and nico bello. This year Matt used some of the hard press that went into neutral puncheons (8% overall), giving the wine an extra level of creaminess to the palate. In total, it spent approximately 10 months on lees prior to bottling. Green apple, crisp pear finishes with a tight, mineral, savoury spice that lingers on the palate. Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Seacrest Chardonnay is a poster child for concrete egg-shaped fermentation tanks. Creamy, lively, mouth-filling, yet light and fresh and super easy to drink. Look for ripe yellow apple highlights, toast, a touch of cream corn, and peach. Excellent and will get better over the next two years. Classic Matt Dumayne: clean, precise, chiselled, but with a creamy texture. Secrest Mountain Vineyard is a 50-acre site, home to a 38-acre (15ha) vineyard situated on a flat south-west facing bench in a high mountain setting at 487 meters in Oliver, BC. This cool site has flat alluvial soils studded with coarse gravel, and sandy loam with limestone layers. The vineyard was planted in 2000. Since 2010, it has been farmed under the direction of Okanagan Crush Pad, and a conversion to organic farming practices was started in 2014. Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Secrest Mountain Vineyard in Oliver, this was whole bunched pressed, fermented by native yeasts, and then aged in concrete eggs. It has golden apple and stone fruits alongside a significant amount of malolactic character (cream, sweet corn) and a toastiness from 10 months on gross lees that you’d be forgiven for mistaking for oak.
