Township 7 NBO Blue Terrace Vineyard 2017

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIn 2017 NBO (North Bench Oliver) has a new 60/40 blend of cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The style remains hedonistic, but with less savoury, spicy notes without the cabernet franc. Like last year, plenty of juicy black fruit marks the nose and palate. Wildfires were a two-edge sword, plenty of smoke in the air caused problems for growers but also blocked the intense mid-summer heat that, in the end, combined with a late-season frost topped off a year in which careful grape selection was paramount. Many will like the blockbuster style, intensified by a reduction in yields of nearly 15 percent. There is no rush to drink this wine, but if you can’t wait, I suggest lamb or beef grilled over a fire. The fruit comes exclusively off Blue Terrace Vineyard in Oliver.Tasted: 28 March 2020Tasted by: Prices:
