Domaine Rolet L'étoile Chardonnay

Domaine Rolet L'étoile Chardonnay 2017

Jura, FranceThe Rolet estate was created by Mr. Désiré Rolet in 1942, with just 4 hectares, and was taken over by his children, Eliane, Bernard, Guy and Pierre in 1958. They grew and ran the estate to be the second largest in the Jura until 2018 when they took retirement and sold to the Devillard family, well known for their Bourgogne estates. It is fermented in barrique, where it ages for a year before bottling. Youthful, forward and present now, with lovely citrus dressed lees, tight pear, lemon, and green apple, with light hazelnut, and river stones bedding the plump core. There's an earthiness that runs through this, holding it interesting. An estate in flux, and one to watch.Tasted: 14 January 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: BC 38.00 private wine shops Producer: Domaine Rolet Père & FilsDistributors: Le Sommelier Inc.
