Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore 2016
Tuscany, ItalyThe evolution of Guado al Tasso continues on its subtle path of refinement. The syrah was dropped more than a decade ago, and now the petit verdot is out, leaving the current mix of 60/20/20 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc. It bolsters the finesse count of this wine, one that is beginning to look like a major player of Bolgheri under estate director Marco Ferrarese. Again, the attraction is less oak and less baked fruit in favour of freshness, vibrancy, pureness of fruit, minerality and balance. Best of all is the salty, savoury marine notes in the finish. It is a wine of place. Collectors take note: there are 10,000 cases out there, which is remarkable.Tasted: 24 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $184.95 | 750ml | private wine shops |
