Château Canada 2016

Bordeaux, FranceChâteau Canada is a bit of a blast from the past: a simple, well-made Bordeaux Supérieur selling around $20. They have been making wine for 155 years, and this is from 30-year-old vines spread over the rolling hills of Cubzac-les-Ponts, 20km southwest of the city of Bordeaux. After a fresh and juicy 2015, 2016 slips a tad back into the balsamic, earthy, soy, black cherry vein. The blend is 70/30 merlot / cabernet sauvignon, the finish firm and dry with more dried cherry, earth and tobacco. It will age through 2022, but I recommend drinking it now and serving it with grilled beef to best effect.Tasted: 28 June 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
