Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaMore than a year down the road from our last tasting, 2018 is holding up just fine. It is a blend of state fruit augmented by other Cowichan vineyards, and it falls into the dry, leesy, mineral side of the pinot gris dry-to-fruity band. Look for pear, quince and grapefruit lead with a stony underbelly. Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their estate vineyard and neighbouring Cowichan fruit, the 2018 pinot gris is electric with juicy acidity, lighting up pear, quince, crunchy Asian pear streaming along the slender, stony palate. There's a lovely balance here, embracing both coastal freshness, and Cowichan sunshine (Cowichan translates to 'the warm lands' in the local First Nations language).
