Quails' Gate Chardonnay Rosemary's Block 2017

West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRosemary's Block leads a trio of top-flight chardonnays at Quails' Gate, named after the mother of the current Stewart family, Rosemary. It continues to show it can be at the top of the BC chardonnay chain year after year with its quiet, leesy lemon nose and palate. Elegant and mineral, it is all about the place and not so much about the fruit. Citrus, green apple, pear ever so slightly rises above the oak and lees and spice. You can drink this now, but I say wait for two to three years until it's at its zenith. The grapes come off two upper estate blocks on the Boucherie (volcanic) Bench. Clones 809 and 76 were whole-cluster pressed and fermented in new and old French oak barrels for 11 months, with full MLF, and regular battonage.Tasted: 25 July 2019Tasted by: Prices:
