Mission Hill Quatrain 2013

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAt Mission Hill, they say, "Quatrain is four lines of verse that we interpret as four varietals (sic) giving balance and structure to this wine." It is a Bordeaux blend with some syrah in it. The '13 is a 45/25/18/12 blend of merlot, syrah, cabernet franc, and cabernet sauvignon, mostly from something the French would never be allowed to do under AOC rules. The fruit comes mainly from Osoyoos, with a tenth coming in from Oliver. It spent 15 months in small French oak barrels. The crop was excellent, and it's translated to the wine. Rich and generous in black and blue fruit, It's closing in on full bottle maturity. That said, the attack is full-bodied with intense dark fruit flecked with dark chocolate, raisins, espresso, along with a savoury sagebrush finish. In a perfect window now to drink, especially with grilled lamb or a rich winter stew.Tasted: 25 October 2020Tasted by: Prices:
