Summerland, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaHaywire acquired the well-tended 36ha Secrest Mountain Vineyard this year, so you can expect even more from its impressive alluvial, gravel, calcareous soils. Look for a medium coloured pink with a distinctive strawberry nose mixed with citrus, mineral stony bits with a dusting of violets. Leesy, textural, weighty, salty fruit extends through the finish. Flavourful enough to work with a variety of foods. Ready to drink.Tasted: 04 August 2018Tasted by: Prices: BC 22.90 winery direct, private wine shops

Summerland, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWhen this note is published, Haywire will be the proud and worthy owner of the 36ha Secrest Mountain Vineyard, one they've been working with for years alongside previous owners, the Wise brothers. Its alluvial, gravel, calcareous soils have yielded some of the winery's most iconic wines. And again in 2017, it provided the grapes for this gamay rosé. A deeper cherry hue, this brisk and strawberry led wine carries salted stones, cherry, wild florals, textural lees on a medium bodied palate to a lingering salt finish. This shines when allowed to breathe some, rest and relax, as you should. Lovely purity and focus.Tasted: 01 June 2018Tasted by: Prices: BC 22.90 winery direct, private wine shops
