Barone Ricasoli Colledila Chianti Classico 2015

Tuscany, ItalyColledilà is a single selection sangiovese from Brolio's estate which has been in the family for centuries, and a Cru deemed worthy of the Gran Selezione stream. The 2015, an excellent vintage, will be released in July 2018, as per CCGS rules. Certainly this firm, savoury, structural wine is far too young to drink now, though it is impressively ready to go today with tenderloin after a decant. After a stainless ferment, this spends 21 months in French barrique and tonneau, 40 percent of which are new. Beauty red fruits, dusky raspberry jam, anise, soft and generous at the core, and framed with a salted, firm, upright structure and vibrating with acidity transmitted via the calcareous alberese soils. Tannins are fine, but mighty, and grip all the way through the lengthy finish.Tasted: 23 February 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
