Napa Valley, California, United StatesTasted several times this year, this very big merlot is singing on all levels from a near perfect vintage. From plums and boysenberry fruit with a dollop of milk chocolate to a spicy bay leaf undercurrent, the fruit is a mix of Napa sites in Yountville, Oak Knoll, Atlas Peak, Oakville, St Helena, Yountville Rutherford with a touch of Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. The blend is 89/7/2/1/1 merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, cabernet franc, malbec all aged just short of 16 months in French and American oak. Delicious savoury, flirty ripe fruit that will age through 2023.
