Stag's Hollow Syrah Amalia Vineyard 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWe haven’t seen this wine for a while but it reminds us of how well syrah grows in the Okanagan. Fresh, juicy and super peppery, with ripeness reflecting the warm year. Winemaker Dwight Sick found the hands that lets the fruit shine through the haze of smoke and wood. This spent 14 months in French oak before blending, bottling, unfined and unfiltered. Look for a Rhone white pepper nose, a juicy, red, fruity, stony, mineral, mid-palate, ample florals on the mid palate, and a soft finish that renders this quaffable. Round and ripe with plushy tannins and smoked meats to bed on the warm finish, this is one for earlier drinking. Think roast pork or lamb.Tasted: 11 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
