Mirabel Chardonnay 2016

East Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe talented Matt Dumayne who works at Okanagan Crush Pad is the winemaker behind this new release from the Kelowna-based Reimer Family. The fruit is mid-valley Naramata grown and whole bunched pressed. Some 30 percent goes to new Francois Frere oak puncheons. Bright acidity allows for a full malolactic fermentation followed by a leisurely 11 months ageing on its lees. Dumayne is all about ‘less is more’ winemaking, so minimal intervention is the mantra; hence it is unfiltered, unfined and UN-everything wine. What it is, is a bright tropical fruit-scented white with rich mango/orange aromas and flavours but with just the right level of lees and toast to complex the finish and bring you back. Think leaner California with better acidity and freshness. Fresh halibut is a great match. 185 casesTasted: 17 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
