Le Vieux Pin Petit Rouge 2016

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2015 vintage saw no 750ml of Petit Rouge, the kid brother of LVP's more age-worthy (and pricey) wines, so this is the first full bottle release since 2014. Petit by name only, this shares the same genes, vineyards and love afforded to its elder siblings. The range was developed to be an affordable, well-made wine to drink tonight. This is a blend of teenaged merlot, cabernet franc and syrah, plummy and full (but not overripe) and with six month in oak prior to bottling (ignore the misprint on the label which gives this 14 months in wood). Plump raspberry, fine cherry, spicy plum with fine tannins lined with peppercorns and cushioned with the southern Okanagan sun. If you're grilling up pork ribs or sausages, look no further.Tasted: 23 October 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
