Feather Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Columbia Valley, Washington, United StatesI’m in awe of this 2014 Feather, surely one of the best cabernets made in Washington to date. Randy Dunn is the maestro and he clearly has found his Washington orchestra in the Columbia Valley. The king of Howell Mountain seems to have found his mojo east of the Cascades, producing some of the finest, silkiest tannins we have tasted in Washington. A warm year bolstered by cool nights has left enough acidity to counter the spice and fruit. It aged 22 months in 90 percent new Vicard French oak barrels but you hardly notice the oak. This is sophisticated wine you can cellar for a decade and beyond yet enjoy now. After thirty-five years of tasting these are the kind of wines I know will be good if not great forever. Well done Randy, Gilles and Allan.Tasted: 31 July 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $65.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
