Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis wine continues to impress over the years. In 2012 the mix was 42/41/17 cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc. It is rich and stylish from the start, and more Bolgheri than Napa, if we can compare, with its tighter, leafier, floral cabernet fruit painted with savoury sagebrush, menthol, blackberry, black cherry. It is all one today, including some impressive rich, dense, smooth tannins that have mellowed perfectly. It is another level of finesse, and each passing year only heightens the quality here. Well done.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAfter two challenging, cool vintages, 2012 came along as a welcome change of pace. But it also wasn’t a blockbuster year, and the best wines show a lovely combination of freshness and ripeness - making them quite ageworthy. That’s on display here, with more overt herbaceousness than the other wines tasted in the line-up. Herbaceousness doesn’t mean unripe, though; after all, this is cabernet sauvignon (42 percent) we’re talking about. After eight years, the fruit, predominantly black is beginning to dry out, so begin to think about pulling this out of your cellar and into a decanter.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom Mission Hill’s Legacy Series Compendium is a 42/41/17 cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc blend. It rich and stylish but more Bolgheri than Napa with its tighter leafier, floral cabernet fruit that is awash in sagebrush and menthol, seemingly intensifying the blackberry/black cherry fruit. The tannins are well managed, dense and fine-grained with a slight sandpaper grit yet to shed. The finish is firm and mineral suggesting another decade of cellar time. A lot to like here, but another level of finesse would take this to an even better place. You could drink this with at-Bone steak but have some patience. It needs more bottle age.Tasted: 13 April 2017Tasted by: Prices:
