Mission Hill Compendium 2010
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMission Hill battened down the hatches with its 2010 reds pruning to the minimum trying to get the fruit ripe in a cool year. 'Hand' everything was the rule before the wine spent 13 months in French oak barrels. It's big and tight with a wallop of dry fruit. The textures are soft but the fruit is subdued. More coffee than blackcurrants and more tannins than finesse at this point but the wine is young. The mix is predominated by Cabernet Sauvignon at 41% with 38% Merlot and 21% Cabernet Franc but the latter two seem overwhelmed at this point. You can feel all the work in the wine and I'm willing to wait but I'm not sure it's going to overcome the vintage in any big way.
