Borsao Tres Picos Garnacha 2014

Campo de Borja, Aragon, SpainSweet ripe blackberry and dense cassis in this full bodied, ripe and heady red from Campo de Borja. Tres Picos is the top cuvée of Borsão, drawn from 30 to 65-year-old, head-pruned garnacha from the slopes of the extinct Moncayo volcanic hills. Thick on the palate, with potent wood courtesy of older French oak barrels (for 10 months) and stainless steel. Vanilla-drawn black fruit is well integrated with potent wood, fleshy black fruits, strong pipe tobacco and a supported by plush tannins to a warm (15 percent) espresso finish. The sweet wood overwhelms all at present; this needs rich beef or lamb dishes to absorb.Tasted: 10 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
