Spierhead Pinot Noir 2015
East Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe ‘white’ label Spierhead pinot is the winery workhorse responsible for about 60 percent of the production and its becoming something of a North Okanagan pinot beacon for me. It’s meant to be a window into the house style that outsiders might claim to be more Oregon, less California with an eye on Burgundy. In the warm 2015 vintage it may be slightly more skewed to California. Aged for roughly ten months in French oak the ‘white label has a delicious demeanour with sweet strawberry over tones mixed with cherries, spicy, licorice and compost notes. Still fresh but already fun to drink. Try this with pork or grilled salmon.Tasted: 15 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:BC | $25.00 | 750ml | winery direct, VQA and private wine shops |
