Spierhead Pinot Noir 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSpierhead has thrown their hat into the challenging pinot noir arena in a big way, planting five acres more this year and putting more in the ground next year as well. This, their entry pinot, is a smooth and approachable one, with plum and perfumed flowers carrying to a supple palate of cassis, cherry-vanilla jam, milk chocolate, mocha and a tinge of molasses spiced beans. The 10 months in French oak is evident on the wood spiced finish, but any edges are all but swallowed up by the fruit. A deeper, plushy styled pinot noir. Partner with hearty bean casserole.Tasted: 17 March 2015Tasted by: Prices:BC | $24.00 | 750ml | winery direct, VQA and private wine shops |
