Stag's Hollow Renaissance Syrah Amalia Vineyard 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe first Renaissance Syrah comes off Amalia Vineyard on the west side of Osoyoos, where warm morning-sun days are followed by cooler evenings. It is all hand-picked and hand sorted, destemmed and partially crushed leaving half the fruit in whole berry formed to be cold soaked in an open top fermenter for three days. At this point some 40 percent of the most lignified stems were put in the ferment. The finished wine went to 60/40 new /used French oak barrels for 14 months. Expect a deeply coloured syrah with an aromatic dried herb, savoury, black pepper, south Okanagan nose. The palate is firm, dry and linear at this point, with black fruit and pepper dominating the front end. The texture is amazingly silky, letting you enjoy it now but it will improve through 2020. Another wine that craves lamb.Tasted: 24 October 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
