Mendoza, ArgentinaA year down the road this wine is a good example of why you should always age your reds a bit of time in bottle. It’s still juicy and there are no tannins to worry about but the fruit has lost its baby fat and is showing more licorice and violets before the smooth, savoury black fruit finish kicks in. Fine balance and texture makes it food friendly. I suggest a grilled flank steak or a beef stir fry.Tasted: 28 September 2017Tasted by: Prices:

Mendoza, ArgentinaThis is a juicy little red with virtually no tannins, hence a soft texture and juicy black fruit. It’s ripe but not so obviously sweet that you don’t want another glass. Look for grapey/black fruit flavours with a red currant underbelly. Simple and ready to drink but needs a savoury dish to tame the ripe fruit and balance all the flavours in the mouth.Tasted: 31 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
