Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSmoked branch, ripe and dense dark berries and dusky, sticky tannins fill this potent and full-bodied meritage blend from the Similkameen. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc is fermented and barrel aged for six months before blending, and then aged for one more year in French and American oak, 60 percent of which was new. Baking spices, tar, dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet tobacco and crushed gravels season the whole, while a gush of juicy acidity works overtime to try and balance the intensity and alcohol.
