Ortas La Domeliére Rasteau 2013
Rasteau, Côtes du Rhône Villages, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe 2013 harvest wasn’t easy in the Rhone but this label has shone in recent years, and remains a solid buy. The mix is a blend of 70/20/10 grenache, syrah and mourvèdre and it grabs your attention from the nose to the finish. The nose is a mix of ripe, red and dark fruit flavours, fleshy on the palate with a hint of cedar and garrigue in the background. The palate is softer, jammy and lighter this year but with enough fruit and ample black pepper to make this a mid-week best buy. A bit of heat is felt on the finish, best mopped up with roasted pork.Tasted: 28 December 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:BC | $20.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
