Lariana Cellars Twelve 2012

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTwelve gets its name for the year the fruit was grown at this most southern winery in BC at Osoyoos just shy of the US Border. This blend is a 53/25/21/11 mix of cabernet sauvignon, syrah, merlot and carmenère. The nose is somewhat aromatic with dried herbs, chocolate and sweet fruit dominating. The attack is round and soft with more sweet cherry fruit with a savoury herbal undercurrent. There’s plenty of oak (45 percent is new French) to bolster the texture, bringing more sweetness and smoke to the blend. There will be some who like this style but it’s just too ripe, sweet and oaky to take seriously at $45. Best with a big piece of grilled meat.Tasted: 07 December 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
