Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is a bold, dusky, wood-dominant red that shouts its arrival : the famed Black Sage Vineyard in the southern Okanagan. One year in French and American oak overwhelm the sun-ripened fruit, leaving grippy, chocolate powdery tannins and dense, winter baking spices linger on the palate. Full bodied and BBQ-purposed, though rustic and punchy.Tasted: 12 February 2016Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA nice bounce back for this wine that failed in 2012 maybe because this is one of the warmest sites in the Okanagan and the heat was too extreme. The 2013 is better balanced, almost bright on the nose with good ripe, savoury black fruit jumping from the glass. The attack is juicy before ample youthful tannins dry out the back end. Stick to steaks or rich winter stews until this wine has some time to unwind over the next three years.Tasted: 05 December 2015Tasted by: Prices:
