Joseph Phelps Insignia 2012
Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe 2012 Insignia is something special and while the colour is opaque and the nose a rich collection of dark fruits, fresh cigar, clove with a hint of mocha there is a note of finesse and restraint you don’t see in very many icon Napa cabernets. There is density here and even opulence but thankfully in a tighter style (think Bordeaux). Of course the fruit is more prominent versus the Medoc, the blend is 75/20/10/3/2/ cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, merlot, malbec and cabernet franc. This is going to need a decade or more to settle into its final form but it will be a good one.Tasted: 28 September 2015Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $318.18 | 750ml | BCLS |
